The exhibition highlights the life and legacy of Ellen Key, a central figure of the Modern Breakthrough. Through her writings and public engagement, Key played a crucial role in shaping European debates on education, children’s rights, women’s education and emancipation, gender issues, social reform, peace, life philosophy, and cultural modernization.

Her work—multifaceted and widely translated—crossed linguistic, political, and disciplinary boundaries, giving rise to diverse and often complex forms of reception across Europe. The exhibition explores both her theoretical contributions and her practical engagement, shedding light on how her ideas were developed, circulated, and put into practice.

The exhibition space is enriched by a substantial visual component, including a selection of photographs preserved in archival collections, which help bring Ellen Key’s intellectual journey and historical context vividly to life.
