MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE. STAY HEALTHY!

Description

We have started from the painting Mangiafagioli by Annibale Carracci, which represents a typical daily life scene of the poorest 17th century social contexts. Then, we have compared it with an opposite scenario of the 21st century, in order to highlight the social differences and the abundance of choices that the food sector offers us nowadays.

The project aims both to raise children's awareness of the quality and quantity of the products they buy and illustrate the pros and cons of their choices as well as the consequences that the latter can have on people's health.

We believe that in today's consumer age, which is strongly food-waste and overproduction oriented, an education in civil responsibility is urgent, with a particular focus on those who do not have access to food resources. In fact, the aim is to teach children that small actions, such as donating a food box, is enough to make a difference in the life of people in need.

From a didactic perspective, this project paves the way for many disciplines. In particular, we suggest two activities:

1. The creation of a vegetable garden in a kindergarten or primary school, where children can learn about biodiversity and respect for the environment through the direct contact with nature.

2. A civic education project based on the second point of the 2030 Agenda, which illustrates some possible solutions to fight the world hunger.
