The painting View from Vaekero near Christiania by J. C. Dahl (1827) shows a natural landscape and two people walking on the waterfront in a melancholic atmosphere. Starting from this feeling of melancholy, we have reflected upon the impact that colors have on the observer's mood and his/her perception of reality. In particular, we focused on how natural effects such as light, colors and other elements of the landscape affect the atmosphere. In our project, not only have we analyzed these aspects, but we have examined also perspective, weather and other similar paintings. Our aim is to encourage visitors to a more in-depth observation of an image and those details that are usually overlooked.
