Amelia and the Angel (1957) - Part 1

An early work by one of the great iconoclasts of British cinema. Amelia And The Angel tells the story of a young girl who is about to play the role of an angel in her school nativity play. However, her brother runs off with her treasured wings, eventually returning them battered and torn beyond repair. We then follow Amelia in her desperate attempt to find a new pair of wings. Amelia And The Angel was Ken Russell's second completed short film and bears many of the hallmarks and themes of his later work, with a mix of religious allegory and magical fantasy.
